9 WARNING SIGNS ANXIETY IS SETTING IN& WHAT YOU SHOULD DO ABOUT IT

Pause for a second and notice what it feels like to have anxiety set it. Have you ever stopped to consider it? In this blog post, I will be sharing 9 (lesser known) warning signs of anxiety.

At a physiological level, your brain responds to danger by releasing stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. Even when the threat is not real (aka, it is just perceived) these hormones still create the physical experience of anxiety inside the body.

Once the threat has subsided, your body will most likely return to normal, but when it doesn’t, anxiety sets in.

Everyone’s experience of anxiety is different. It is important to point out that not everyone who has anxiety will experience the same symptoms.

Here is a list of 9 warning signs that anxiety may be setting in:

1. You start zoning out, even when you are not bored (this can be confusing and disorienting).

2. You notice yourself becoming impatient (especially with your loved ones).

3. You crave reassurance (to feel even the slightest bit of security and confidence).

4. You avoid making plans for the future (because you don't know what your mental state will be like at the time).

5. You snap easily (even when the trigger is small and unimportant)

6. You leave events early (everything starts to feel really overwhelming)

7. You are in 'self-preserve mode' (you set up walls between you and others)
Have you experienced any of these?

8. You experience dryness and tension in your mouth (& tightness in your throat)

9. Your mind goes blank during the conversation (even when you have prepared ad nauseam )

If you find yourself experiencing one or some of the symptoms listed above you might have anxiety. I have two recommendations for you:

One.

Start to welcome in the feeling. Extend your arms (literally) and picture yourself embracing the feeling of anxiety. I explain why this is so effective in my next point, but for now, know that anxiety persists because you resist it. When you embrace it with open arms and appreciation… it dissipates. If you think I am crazy, go ahead and try this the next time your anxiety sets in. The feeling you will experience when you do this activity is relief.

Two.
