HOW DO I USE EFT? A STORY I'VE NEVER TOLD BEFORE (+WORKSHOP ALMOST SOLD OUT)

I wanted to take some time to share my experience with EFT.

First, I want you to know everything I recommend, everything I do & everything I share always meets two criteria:

#1.) It evidence-based, meaning: the tool or recommendation has undergone research in a systematic and transparent way. It utilizes the most current research in its practical application. And,

#2) It has benefited my life in some way shape or form.

EFT is no exception. You might have heard me talk about EFT yesterday. When I first encountered it I was wary. I didn't understand how tapping my face would have an impact on how I thought, much less how I felt. (This was before I fully understood how it worked).

Over time, I came to study & understand the powerful impact of tools that combine both mind (cognitive) and somatic (body) approaches (EFT in a nutshell).

About two years ago my father almost died from an aortic aneurysm. He survived, which is incredible because the survival rate is less than 20%. (He's doing great & we are blessed to still have him with us). But, what followed for me was a really intense fear & worry that I TOO would develop a similar condition. I was overcome with thoughts like: "is this genetic? will this happen to me? do I need to get a CT scan to see if my arteries are functioning properly?... on and on." Every time I felt a pain in my stomach, my mind would immediately turn to this fearful thought.

In learning how to properly use EFT, I have essentially been able to reprogram my bodily response to this negative thought, thereby sending a new signal to my brain telling it: I am safe. I’ve used it to improve how I feel about myself & my health. I've also used it to combat limiting beliefs and to move through emotionally sticky issues.

I am sure many of you have experienced illness or have witnessed someone close to you experience illness in a similar way. This makes the rational brain become even more convinced it is right in obsessing over bodily sensations.

The truth is: it doesn't help. There is no amount of obsession & paranoia that will ever help you feel healthy. There is no amount of googling symptoms that will remove the fear. This fear can only be removed by YOU & your body's response to your thoughts.

No, I am not advocating that you ignore your physical check-ups. I am talking about dismantling that looping negative, fear-based narrative that is constantly playing in the back of your mind *whenever* you feel or think about anything related to your health & body.

All of this is to say. I am a huge proponent of using mind-body techniques like EFT to reprogram the way your thoughts FEEL in your body (take a second to think about that last line again). I have used it to help "drop into" a new feeling of safety & health and have learned how to quiet the fear-based narrative that my mind typically jumps into after any uncertain event.
